Finding ideas of how to make money in Nigeria in recent
times has led a lot of youth in the country go into small businesses. In this
post we shall be looking at one of the newest growing fast food business that
has taking the country’s joints, bars,
hotels and even road side vendors of this business called shawarma business to
another fast money making spiller.
I will like to tell you a little story of two boys, Moses
Enweazu and Timothy Akinleye. They both were friends from high school till
university days, after their school days they set out to look for jobs and
eventually Timothy got a job with a monthly pay and Moses was still unable to
get a job, but he had a very good culinary skill and decided to become an entrepreneur.
He started his own shawarma business and delivered very nice and tasty shawarma
to his clients and he started getting huge amount of sales daily roughly he was
making about N90,000.00 in sales monthly and then decided to open up another
branch.
Timothy was always reporting at the office from 9am to 5 pm daily while
Moses had the whole of the day to himself till it starts getting towards
evening time when his business starts. He had time to do other businesses
during the day time which was an advantage to him, which is one of the good
reasons to always work for yourself and become your own boss.
Enough said about those two friends for now, let’s get back
into our main discussion for this topic which is how to set up a shawarma
business in Nigeria.
To start this business you must atleast have a culinary
skill set of your own that will help you be the best or most preferred
shawarma vendor depending on the
location you choose to establish or you can also get a little training on how
to prepare shawarma.
Locating your
Shawarma Business
First of all the location you choose determines the number
of sales that you will be expecting to make on a daily basis. Be sure to locate
your shawarma business in an area where you have people who are engaged in
various business activities especially at night time. One of the advantages of
this business is that evenings are the best times to come out for your business
as you can still have all the day to yourself and do other businesses you wish
to do just like in the case of Moses and Timoth.
Buy the necessary
shawarma tools
To start a business you must have an initial capital that
will be set aside for your purchase of the things you need to do that business,
like I always say in all of my how to do posts. Notice the tools you need to
buy such as gas cylinder, your daily ingredients such as vegetables and spices,
you can get a good mixing machine to help you mix your source properly. Get a
good burner that will be used to heat up the shawarma while preparing it. Be sure
to get the best prices for all ingredients that you buy as prices always vary
from place to place in Nigeria. With this said we now have to concentrate on
how to get our clients.
Create Awareness
Like i always say, "awareness is key in publisizing your business anywhere in the word through adverts". You can create awareness for this business by getting a Dj to
come and play songs at the newly open shawarma spot. By doing this you are
letting that environment know that there is a new business happening around
there. You can also slash prices for the people that come there to buy for the
first time upon the opening of the business. Create a facebook page, a twitter
page, pintrest page and even a google+ page where you can take pictures and
update your clients on the events you can decide to have at your shawarma
business spot.
Conclusion:
You do now need to wait to get a 9am to 5pm job. You can create
your own business even with the little available resources that you have and
turn into an empire, depending on the kind of passion that you have for such
business. So get your ideas now and start your own business.
